RIYADH, 18 October 2003 — An Indian parliamentarian wants to set up an Indo-Saudi Friendship Society to promote cultural and economic interaction between the two countries.
C.N. Singh, a member of Parliament from Uttar Pradesh, India’s most populous state, put the suggestion forward at a meeting of Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Association.
He was speaking as a guest of honor at a function to commemorate the 186th birth anniversary of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, founder of Aligarh Muslim University.
