JEDDAH, 23 October 2003 — Interior Minister Prince Naif yesterday warned that deterrent punishment will be given to those who stage demonstrations violating the country’s law. Meanwhile, an Interior Ministry official said authorities had released 188 of the 271 individuals they had detained after last week’s illegal gathering in Riyadh. “The remaining 83 including three women are still under investigation,” the official said.
