JEDDAH, 22 December 2003 — Fathima Maqdum, 48, who worked at the International Indian School, Jeddah (IISJ) for 19 years, has died in the southern Indian city of Cochin. She died of cardiac arrest yesterday, according to her brother Dr. M. S. Karimuddin.
Fathima, who joined the school in 1982 and rose to the position of headmistress of the higher secondary section, returned to her hometown of Madras at the end of 2001 for cancer treatment. She was here on a brief visit during her treatment. She is survived by two daughters.
