JEDDAH, 23 December 2003 — Forty Saudi thalassemia patients, their families and two medical professionals specializing in hereditary blood diseases participated in the 9th International Conference on Thalassemia and Hemoglobinopathies and 11th Thalassemia International Federation Conference (TIF) for Parents and Thalassemics. “I can’t find words to describe my happiness that Saudi patients are finally sharing their experiences with other thalassemics from around the world. They have learned many things and gained hope and moral strength and social support,” said Abeer Al-Manabri, director of the Makkah branch of the National Project for the Prevention of Inherited Blood Diseases.
