JEDDAH, 27 December 2003 — BBC World has been awarded the $500,000 Zayed International Prize for the Environment, the WAM news agency reported. BBC World will also receive a trophy and a citation.
Health Minister Hamad Abdul Rahman Al-Madfa, who is a member of the prize’s jury panel, said the award was in recognition of the distinctive leadership influencing international and local policies, media and education programs in environment and sustainable development fields.
