PC, PS2, Publisher: Rock Star, Developer: Remedy

With a game like Max Payne one review for one system is not enough, so in this column you will be able to read about the PC version and the PS2 version. As for the PC version the game was running on a high end PC so if the results are not the same at your home then you need to upgrade your computer. Starting off with the main game, the first thing you notice is the new addition to bullet time. You have now two kinds of bullet time, the good old bullet time, which now seems to be changed. Instead of slowing everything down matrix style, the game slows everybody else and Max moves just as he always does. The new addition is the new jump bullet time. You can jump and slide to a direction and shoot lots of bullets while you are in mid air, while time is slow; and when you hit the ground time speeds up again. When using such a move the time meter is not affected at all, so you will be using this move very often. The story in the game is good enough to keep you coming back to play more and more of the game. You will meet old friends from the first game and have some cooperative missions with your buddies. On the right PC the game plays great. The graphics are what I will call amazing, the attention to detail is perfect. After playing the PS2 version, I was really happy to have quick save on the computer. And for a game like that the Mouse and Keyboard are the best controllers.

In the PS2 version, the controls are horrible, you just can't move freely in the game. So I went to the options and looked for half an hour to invert the directions of the right analog stick but it doesn't exist making it even more difficult. With a long time to use quick save, you end up not using it. And worst of all the graphics suck.

The Score: PC 8.7 | PS2 4.5
