RIYADH, 2 January 2004 — Saudi Arabia will host an exhibition on the reconstruction of Iraq later this month to convince Arab countries and the international community of the need to build a prosperous Iraq.
The Riyadh Exhibition Company (REC) will organize the five-day international event to be officially opened on Jan. 19 here.
“A large number of delegates from 67 Saudi and over 1,100 international companies will participate in the exhibition,” said Muhammad Al-Husseini, REC’s deputy director.
A number of companies from member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Iraq, the United States, Britain, Australia, Bulgaria, Canada, Cyprus, China, Denmark, Belgium, Germany, Finland, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, Romania, Hungary, Hong Kong, Bangladesh, India, Iran, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Lebanon, Lithuania, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Turkey will participate in the exhibition.
“The exhibition will feature prospects of business in Iraq, the process of reconstruction of that war-torn country and the future of Iraq,” REC officials said.
The event is being organized on the initiative of Saudi Arabia, which has pledged $1 billion in loans and credits for Iraq’s reconstruction.
