DUBAI, 3 January 2003 — Emirates, which is currently refitting the first and business class cabins on its 29-strongfleet of Airbus A330-200s to provide more legroom for greater passenger comfort, has won two top distinctions at the Galileo Express Travel & Tourism Awards in Bombay. These were the first-ever Indian travel and tourism awards staged by a non-governmental organization. The Dubai-based international carrier bagged top honors in two of the four airline categories of the ET&T awards — best international airline westbound from India 2003 and most innovative marketing campaign. The winners were selected through a survey conducted among IATA-accredited travel agents and tour operators across India. Nabil Sultan, Emirates vice president for India and Nepal, received the awards on behalf of Emirates from India’s Civil Aviation Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy at a ceremony in the Maurya Sheraton, New Delhi.
