HYDERABAD, 5 January 2004 — The main opposition Congress party yesterday charged Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu with failure on all fronts during the eight years of his rule.
Releasing a “true report of progress in the state” under the Telugu Desam Party government, Congress Legislature Party leader Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy alleged that “the governance under Chandrababu Naidu has completedly deteriorated and taken the state into retrograde motion from where it is very difficult to wriggle out.”
“Naidu cannot offer any excuses for his failures, as he was lucky enough to inherit a very healthy state (financially). It is his faulty vision and lopsided economic policies, which are inconsistent with the priorities and resources of the state, that are responsible for such a dismal performance,” the Congress leader contended.
“In his anxiety and selfishness to promote himself at the cost of all others, Naidu has dismantled the entire administrative machinery and reduced his Cabinet and the bureaucracy to non-entities.”
