RIYADH, 6 January 2004 — The Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Association has convened an extraordinary meeting at Khayyam restaurant here at 7.30 p.m. on Friday.
“The meeting will discuss the ‘alarming’ situation arising out of the latest University Grants Commission directive,” its General Secretary Ashraf A. Shah said yesterday. “The directive binds the grand old alma mater to the norm of making admissions to its professional courses inclusive of those in the medical and engineering colleges through common all-India tests, thus resulting in great resentment among teachers, students and old boys,” he added. Those interested may contact Shah on Tel. No. 057499756.
