JEDDAH, 8 January 2004 — The Islamic Development Bank has allocated $500 million in aid to the Iraq reconstruction program, IDB President Dr. Ahmad Muhammad Ali announced here.

He made the announcement at a meeting held by Arab organizations and funding agencies to consider how best to help the people of Iraq.

Dr. Ali said the bank would finance projects in such priority sectors as education, vocational training, health, water and sewage, agriculture, food security, electricity as well as import and export of basic commodities and products.
