RIYADH, 10 January 2004 — The special US envoy for Iraqi debt, James Baker, is expected in Riyadh today to discuss with Saudi officials Iraqi debt owed to the Kingdom, Al-Yaum reported yesterday.

Quoting diplomatic sources, the newspaper said Baker is to pay a 24-hour visit to the Kingdom where he will raise the issue with Crown Prince Abdullah, deputy premier and commander of the National Guard and Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal.

In October, the daily quoted a source as saying Riyadh will only reschedule, not write off, an estimated $28 billion owed by Iraq.
