JEDDAH, 13 January 2004 — The 4th annual COMDEX Exhibition, to be held at the Jeddah International Exhibition and Convention Center from March 14, will be divided into six technology segments critical to the global IT industry: wireless and mobility, digital enterprise, web services, open sources, Windows and net on-demand computing, and security, the organizers told a press conference at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry yesterday.
“Together, the various segments represent the fastest growing areas of technology that will drive market innovations in 2004 and beyond,” said Hammam Zare of Dabbagh Information Technology.
More than 300 local and international companies specializing in IT and computer services are taking part in the expo.
The exhibition’s educational program will offer clear and comprehensive tutorials on products and services, which will make companies more profitable, efficient and competitive. “COMDEX Saudi Arabia is a starting point for e-commerce,” said JCCI Director General Saud O. Ounallah.
A featured program will be the Saudi Arabia e-commerce solutions conference, designed to help businesses and individuals profit from the global Internet economy. “Participants will get proven perspectives, case studies and best practices from local, regional and international experts, and learn from businesses that have implemented successful e-commerce initiatives,” said Godwin Joseph, vice president-international of the London-based MediaLive International, which is partnering with DIT Group to organize the show.
“The event will deliver a platform for collaboration, communications and commerce to the largest IT market in the Middle East-Gulf region,” he added.
“Our goal is to provide the best opportunities for influential buyers and sellers around the world,” he said.
The Kingdom’s market, which comprises virtually half of the region’s overall market, is projected to grow by more than 20 percent in 2004,” he said.
