JEDDAH, 13 January 2004 — Here’s a chance for OFW’s in Jeddah who have missed the previous computer literacy workshops of the OFW Cooperative Council (OFWCC).
Council Chairman Rudy Carillo said their 13th seminar series will open on Jan. 23, and like the past seminars, it will be free of charge.
The training will be held for seven consecutive Fridays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Tropicana Restaurant on Tahlia St., Jeddah.
Carillo said participants will be given hands-on training on basic computer operations, software programs, computer hardware peripherals and Internet browsing and website design.
The OFWCC pool of trainers is led by Rudy Carillo, a Microsoft-certified system engineers, along with Ernie Geslani, Jimmy Leonida, Gary Paala and the secretariat members.
The topics will be as follows: Jan. 23, Windows Operating System XP; Jan. 30, MS Word XP; Feb. 6, MS Excel XP; Feb. 13, MS Power Point XP; Feb. 20, MS Access XP; Feb. 27, Internet Browsing & Website Design; and March 5, PC Assembly.
OFWCC official Willie Ansis explained that while the seminar is free of charge, participants are requested to share in the expenses of whatever is incurred during the whole period of the workshop for venue, food and rentals of computer units.
Since this seminar is a part of the Philippine Government re-integration programs for OFWs, we encourage Filipino participants only, said Carillo.
Also, Ed Rufino, OFWCC Inter-coop Chairman encourage OFWCC members, cooperative officials and staff to attend the seminar.
Some of the computer lessons are useful in maintaining and checking the business records of the organization and in preparing forms and financial reports, he added.
In addition, for those previous participants who were unable to attend the last graduation ceremony can now get their certificate of attendance to Mr. Abdullah San Pedro after every Friday’s workshop.
Organized under the auspices of the Philippine Consulate in 1998, OFWCC’s computer literacy program has already produced more than a thousand graduates.
