RIYADH, 14 January 2004 — A Jeddah-bound Boeing 767-300 with 325 Indonesian Haj pilgrims on board was forced to make an emergency landing on Tuesday after running into “technical” problems shortly after its departure from an Indonesian airport, senior airline officials said here yesterday. No one was injured during the emergency landing.
A senior Garuda Indonesia executive Banjari Suhardi said a plane leased from British Airways by Garuda for Haj operations had the technical problems 30 minutes into the flight.
