RIYADH, 20 January 2004 — German Interior Minister Otto Schily held talks on security and the fight against terrorism with senior Saudi officials during a brief visit to the Kingdom on Sunday, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Schily is on a tour of the Middle East that kicked off in Jordan and will also take him to the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
During talks with his Interior Minister Prince Naif and other senior officials, he discussed cooperation in the fight against terrorism and the training of Saudi security forces in Germany, diplomats said.
Schily, whose government was one of the leading opponents of the US-led war in Iraq, is also due to discuss the training of Iraqi police officers by Germany during his trip.
