TAIF, 21 January 2004 — When it comes to marking examination papers at the end of a semester, teachers are coming across some unusual answers. Instead of getting the ones they want, they are subjected to outright requests for good marks or just plain silliness, Al-Watan wrote. This semester proved no different with students including quirky footnotes at the bottom of the sheet. One read “My beloved teacher, please help me”. The question was: “Why didn’t the student help himself?” Some sent in sheets containing sycophantic praises in order to get into the teachers’ good books; others were outlandish and longwinded answers to simple questions.
