RIYADH, 22 January 2004 — A Dutch company has designed a master plan for the expansion and renovation of Jeddah’s King Abdul Aziz International Airport (KAIA). The plan includes design for a new terminal building, apron modifications and overall renovation. The announcement was made by Paul Lagendijk, ambassador of the Netherlands, today to with Arab News. Lagendijk pointed out that Netherlands Airport Consultants B. V (NACO) will also likely be involved in the implementation of the project after it has been completed. NACO, he said, is an independent firm of airport consultants providing specialist knowledge in the development of airports and associated facilities. W. L. Zaat, head of the commercial department at the embassy, pointed out that NACO had worked on many domestic airport projects in Saudi Arabia as part of the nationwide airport planning program.
