DAMMAM, 22 January 2004 — Two crew members of a Saudi F-15 fighter plane died in an accident during a training flight yesterday, a Defense Ministry spokesman said.
“An accident occurred involving an F-15 of the Saudi Air Force yesterday during a training flight at the King Abdul Aziz Air Base in the Eastern Province,” the official said.
The dead were identified as Sultan ibn Turki Al-Farem and Nasser ibn Abdul Rahman Al-Rasheed.
“Investigations are under way to establish the cause of the accident,” the Saudi Press Agency quoted the official as saying.
One source told Arab News that the plane had crashed on a restaurant inside the base. As a result, an Egyptian worker at the restaurant was killed and two others — an Indian and a Filipino — were injured.
