JEDDAH, 24 January 2004 — Armed robbers shot dead an employee of a firm of money changers and stole the SR800,000 that he and a colleague were taking to a bank in Riyadh, Al-Watan newspaper reported yesterday.
The gunmen shot at the pair from a jeep and sped away after stealing the money, witnesses said.
The dead man and his colleague were employees of Baghlaf Money Exchange.
The latter escaped unharmed and reported the incident to police.
