RIYADH, 25 January 2004 — Next Saturday (Jan. 31) is Arafat Day, the climax of the Haj, the Supreme Judiciary Council announced yesterday.
“The month of Dul Hijjah started Jan. 23. Subsequently, Arafat Day will be on Saturday and the Eid Al-Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice, on Sunday,” it said.
An estimated two million pilgrims will assemble on the plain of Arafat, some 20 km from the holy city of Makkah, seeking the blessings of Allah, on the second day of the five-day annual event, which begins Friday.
