TABUK, 29 January 2004 — Tabuk governor, Prince Fahd ibn Sultan ibn Abdulaziz, has announced that this year’s budget for the area is SR1.568 billion. The prince pointed out that the budget would fund many municipal projects, service projects, water, electricity, roads and education. The municipality will also build three dams and a new water desalinization plant at a total cost of SR100 million. The budget also includes the Tabuk water project for the entire city at a cost of SR250 million. The budget will disburse SR513 million for water and sewage. The municipality will use SR170 million from the budget to complete major roads in the city. The education budget for males was increased to SR67 million and for females increased to SR60 million. The education budget will be used to build 32 new schools for both sexes. In the electricity sector, the budget allocates SR70 million to cover new projects and introduce electricity to many villages surrounding the city.
