JEDDAH, 30 January 2004 — Police in the Al-Safa district of Jeddah arrested a member of an African gang responsible for stealing SR300,000 from two Saudi businessmen, Okaz newspaper reported yesterday.

Two businessmen came from Madinah with SR300,000 to buy sheep. A meeting was arranged with the alleged owner to negotiate a discount and clinch the deal. When the businessmen arrived in the apartment they were ambushed by gang members who, after beating them up, stole their money.

Police arrested one of the gang members and still searching for the others.
