YANBU, 30 January 2004 — Cristal recorded a fine victory over RC B in ongoing Al Yasrah/YCL Winter Cricket tournament. Seven teams are participating -- Aramco, Royal Commission, Jotun, Blue Star, RC B, Al Macon and Cristal.
Cristal defeated RC B in the last ball of the match as they overhauled the mammoth 189 of RC B, who were given a flying start by Efam (69 — 8 fours) and Muneer (45 — 4 fours in a first wicket partnership of 117. Faruk, Rizwan and Waseem took one wicket each for Cristal.
Cristal had a shaky start but Iftikhar (69 — 8 fours, one six) and Rizwan (43 not out — 5 fours, one six) guided their team to win. Azmat and Siraj took 2 wickets each while Dr. Aamir had one wicket. Iftikhar of Cristal was declared man of the match.
Blue Star defeated Aramco by 26 runs. Kazim (25 -- 4 fours and a six) and Younus (25 -- 2 fours) of Blue Star were the main scorers. Wasim and Chisti of Aramco finished respectively with 2 and 1 wicket. Aramco began well as Khawja Azgar (26 -- 4 fours) and Imran (33 -- 4 fours) set a fine pace. But 2 wickets each by Tabrez, Kazim and Sarfaraz bundled out Aramco for 119 runs. Kazim of Blue Star was declared the man of the match.
In another match between Al Macon and Aramco, the latter lost by 71 runs. Set to score 213 by Al Macon, Aramco could score 142 runs. Javed (56) paced Al Macon, who were also boosted by Gul Badshah 40 runs and Tariq 36 runs. Chisti (1-13)was the most economical bowler for Aramco.
Chisti and Decross (22) scored 48 runs in four overs before Decross was out. Aramco then lost wickets and the match as Balwinder and Javed took two wickets each. Javed of Al Macon was declared the man of the match.
Al Macon defeated Royal Commission B by 39 runs in another encounter. Al Macon were restricted to 87 for six thanks to a fine spell of bowling by RC B bowlers.
Dr. Aamir took 2 wickets while Das, Azmat, Shakeel and Pasha took a wicket each. But a seventh-wicket stand of more than 60 in the last 5 overs between Khurram and Balwinder boosted the Al Macon tally.
Al Macon’s Naseem then shackled RC B and they managed only 129 runs. Efam starred with 30 runs. Naseem took 3 wickets while Arif and Tariq took two wickets each.
Naseem was declared the man of the match for a fine 42 and bowling display.
Blue Star defeated Cristal by 7 wickets in another encounter. Cristal’s Ahmedullah scored a fine 52 bu got no support. Lal Zameer took three wickets and Amoudi took three for 22. In reply Blue Star were given a fine start by Kazim and Zulfiqar who added 56 and Kazim was unbeaten with 70 as he guided his team to victory. Haider took two wickets. Kazim of Blue Star was declared the man of the match.
