JEDDAH, 30 January 2004 — Young Athlete and UMA carved out exciting wins against their respective opponents in the 5th week matches of the SGB Baroom League (Premier Division) sponsored by SGB Baroom & organized by JCL.
While UMA scored an exciting 3 wicket win over Contraco, Young Athlete did short work of young Nadir Toor defeating them by 42 runs.
Elsewhere, Mahmood Saeed trounced Sadafco by 7 wickets.
Young Athlete, batting first, scored 256 for 7 in 35 overs. Shakeel scored an elegant 80 runs and was admirably supported by Shabaz (48) and later by Hussain, who remained uneaten with an impressive 52. Munawwar chipped in with a quick 33 runs as Abeed and Raheel picked up 2 wickets each.
In reply, Nadir Toor were all out for 214. Sadiq topscored with 53 runs and was given good support by Hasnat (37), Naveed (33), Rizwan (22) and Raheel (23). Javed with 3 wickets and Shoaib and Shakeel with 2 wickets each gave Young Athlete their first win of the league. Contraco opener Kaleem scored a pugnacious 51. Babar (31), Azeem (26) and Shiraz (38) kept up the good work to enable Contraco reach their total of 243 for 7 in 35 overs.
Munawwar and Khalid bowled well to return with 2 wickets each. In reply, UMA reached 244 for 7 in 33 overs with Kaiser leading the way scoring a polished 67 runs with 6 fours and was given good support by Shaukat (42).
Earlier Khalid Butt (33) and Altaf (30) started the run chase on a positive note. Shakeel and Mohsin took 2 wickets each as UMA won by 3 wickets.
Sadafco piled up an impressive 262 for 5 in 35 overs. Parvez scored a brilliant 108 runs before being run out. He batted patiently and with authority and hit 4 fours.
With some excellent running between the wickets with Ilyas (35) put on 68 runs for the 2nd wicket and with Ibrahim (41) added 90 runs for the 3rd wicket.
Later Haroon accelerated the scoring with a quickfire 35 in 20 balls with 4 fours. Arif picked up 2 for 46.
