MADINAH, 9 February 2004 — A particularly hideous crime has come to light in Madinah with the discovery of the headless corpse of a 10-year-old boy, found in the stagnant waters of Wadi Erwa.
Preliminary examinations showed that the boy had been raped. When the police consulted their list of missing persons, they identified the body as that of a young Pakistani boy reported missing two weeks ago.
The boy’s father, Ghulam Mustafa, has been living in Madinah for 40 years. He told police that he had seen his son being forced into a car in front of the family’s house. Ghulam chased the car on foot but it disappeared and police have been searching for the boy since then.
Police took DNA samples from Ghulam and confirmed that the dead boy was his son.
“My son was kidnapped from in front of our house and many people witnessed it. We chased the car but it escaped. The police began searching for my son but they didn’t find him. They did not phone again and then the police told me they had found the body of a headless boy. I cannot believe that there are people who would commit such a wicked crime,” Ghulam told reporters.
Gen. Yousuf Al-Binayan, head of the Madinah police, strongly condemned the terrible murder. He said early investigations have led to the arrest of three unemployed young men, aged 17, 18 and 20. The three live in the same neighborhood as the victim.
