JEDDAH, 14 February 2004 — YAS Club and Friends scored fine wins in the SIFF-Sadafco Soccer tournament in exciting 2nd Division games while the one-sided 1st Division tie was won by J.N.H. Friends who routed Alsalama Malabar 6-1.
In the match between Asiana Yellow and YAS Club, and the match-winner from “best player” striker Shabbir in YAS Club’s 1-0 win. The YAS Club were without custodian Najeeb for the majority of the second half, as he was injured while effecting a save.
The game between Saudia Milk Combined Bros. and Eastern Eranad Club ended in a 3-3 draw. Combined Bros. took the lead in the first half with striker Sakeer converting a long-range pass. Five goals were scored in the second half, with Sakeer and striker Nayeemuddin scoring for Combined Bros., and wingers Anees Husain and Sajeed Babu and striker Anwar scoring for Eranad Club. Marcos D’Silva of Combined Bros. was adjudged the best player.
For J.N.H. Friends striker Saleem netted two goals, and striker Salahuddin, winger Abdul Ghafour, striker Hamza P. and defender Aziz scored a goal each. Muhammad Unni of Friends was the best player of the match. Alsalama Malabar were gifted a goal when striker Hamza P. scored an own goal.
