RIYADH, 16 February 2004 — The Imam Muhammed Ibn Saud Islamic University has launched an Islamic orientation course for Muslim journalists to prepare them for the challenges facing the Islamic world. A group of Sri Lankan Muslim journalists, both from print and electronic media, is the first to attend the program here yesterday.
Describing it as a useful and constructive, F. M. Fairoze, secretary of the Muslim Media Forum, said the one-month program will provide a better image of Saudi Arabia, its culture, heritage, media, Islam and Muslims in this part of the world. The program includes lectures, demonstrations and visits to newspaper offices, TV stations and radio stations.
At a reception to journalists at his residence, Sri Lankan Ambassador Ibrahim Sahib Ansar told the members of the media attending the project that they should project the right image of the Kingdom and Islam through their respective organizations.
