JEDDAH, 17 February 2004 — The all new smart “swipe card” Saudi driving license is to be issued from today.
Director of Traffic Administration Col. Fahd Al-Bishr confirmed that the new-style licenses would be issued only for new license requests. The new licenses will be available only in the Riyadh region for the next six months, after which they will be available Kingdomwide.
The license, the size and style of a credit card, is made of toughened plastic and contains an array of security features that will make forgery extremely difficult.
