JEDDAH, 19 February 2004 — Saudi Aramco Shell Refinery (SASREF) has awarded the international express and logistics company, DHL, an exclusive three-year contract for the provision of fully integrated logistics services.

Under the terms of the contract, a DHL representative will be based at SASREF and will have full responsibility for processing all the refinery’s purchase orders, monitoring the purchase process, tracking transportation and registering receipt of orders.

He will also be responsible for preparing and processing of all import/export carrier documents for land, sea and air shipments and providing all documents and services to facilitate clearance through Saudi customs.

In addition, the DHL representative will processes all documents for customs duties refunds, import licenses, exemption certificates, and permits.

He will also feed data into the SASREF system (SAP).

SASREF is a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and Shell. Established in 1980 it is one of the 15 largest refineries in the world with an output of more than 300,000 barrels a day.

Ninety percent of production is exported with the remaining ten percent for local consumption.
