RIYADH, 20 February 2004 — RBC Patriots denied KIA’s Pride a second trip to the podium in three weeks and went on to become the Team of the Week during the third session of the United Electronics Co. (EXTRA) Tuesday Night Bowling League 4th Conference at the Riyadh Bowling Club lanes here.

Both the Patriots and KIA’s Pride finished tied at 24 points but the former clinched the team honors by virtue of their better pinfalls of 3,357 following the victory over ABV RG, the second Team of the Week which compiled 18 points and total pinfalls of 3,268.

KIA’s Pride tallied total pinfalls of 3,268 in humbling Blue Blood that returned 15 points and total pinfalls of 3,158. The individual race for Bowler of the Week honors went to Lito Briones of KIA’s Pride who shot the high series of 905 on lines of 234, 194, 160, 205.

Untouch-A-Bowl and Ara Bowlers also posted decisive victories over Xtreme OPS 22-13 (3,175-3,002) and Al Mishari Pinbusters 22-16 (3,339-3,189) respectively, while Starstrucks downed Snap Shots 4 18-13 on total pinfalls of 3,054 and 3,022 in the other match in this four-man team league event sponsored by United Electronics Co.

The trio of Mar Viloria, Fhel Ramos and Tony Vicario paved the road to victor for Patriots with solid outputs of 866, 846 and 834 in that order. Completing the games on the Patriots scorecard were Arnel Gordovez with 412 and Ely Fanugao with 399.

ABV RG kept the lead at 72 points despite the defeat thanks to its hot display during the second week. Fernie Balano at 839 and Jojo Miraflor at 826 were at the helm of an Untouch-A-Bowl attack that also contained 787 from Fidel Ferrer, 389 from Eric Perez and 334 from Ming Barnachea.

Ara’s Ed Rodriguez was the only other bowler to break 900 at 904, while his teammates Freddie Aquino, Rod Tagaban, Jasper Durago and Saudi Egil added 856, 736, 448 and 395 in that order.

ABV team captain August Yema missed hitting 900 at 898, Blue Blood’s Benjie Macatuno made 885 and Ernie Quiambao of Top Gun carded 874 to be among the week’s notable scorers.

Top Gun scored 23 points and total pinfalls of 3,150 as the week’s unmatched team in action.
