JEDDAH, 20 February 2004 — Seiko-Butler beat Saudi Diyar 74-70 in the Bin Mafouz basketball court in Jeddah. Seiko-Butler led by 4 points with 12 seconds remaining, while Saudi Diyar went to an open man and unleashed a desperation three-pointer but missed as the final buzzer sounded. Borbon led with 17 points for Seiko-Butler and was the Seiko player of the game while Santos scored 32 points for Saudi Diyar.
Al Anjal defeated Salam Brothers 84-71 in the inter-commercial division. Al Anjal caught Salam Brothers flat-footed in the fourth quarter. Amin Bahartha pumped 44 points for Al Anjal and was the Giordano player of the game while Ismael Leo Almoite led with 22 points for Salam Brothers.
United Yousef Naghi Philips Division beat Jologs 69-54. United applied run and gun offense in the fourth quarter.
Jologs tried to keep the game at bay but lost their steam in the dying minutes. Dionesio led with 34 points for United and was the hands down choice for the Fuchs Petroleum best player of the game while Cardano scored 15 points for Jologs. In Friday’s game, Salam Brothers beat SFI-Huta Sete 71-54 in the inter-company division. It was a tight ball game up to fourth quarter. Salam Brothers went to their game plan to tear down SFI-Huta Sete in the final quarter. The plan paid well when SFI-Huta Sete missed important baskets. Dawoud Antonio chipped in with 19 points for Salam Brothers and was the Seiko best player of the game while Quinito scored 17 points for SFI-Huta Sete.
Saudi German Hospital escaped defeat at the hands of GNP-Hempel 79-74. With only 25 seconds remaining in the final period and SGH was ahead by 3 points, Elwerdani committed a costly foul and put GNP-Hempel Paints in the charity lane for two shots. GNP-Hempel Paints missed both shots.
SGH won their second win in three outings. Noel Gamba led with 31 points for SGH and was the Seiko player of the game while Balajadia scored 24 points for GNP-Hempel Paints.
Jeddah Graphics beat Saudi Diyar 72-63. Jeddah Graphics displayed good defense as Saudi Diyar went to their final assault in the dying seconds. Diaz scored 33 points for Jeddah Graphics and was adjudged as the Seiko player of the game while Santos top score with 28 points for Saudi Diyar.
