RIYADH, 24 February 2004 — Britain has invited Saudi businessmen to invest in its energy sector.
At a seminar on “Energy Management - Building on the UK experience” in Riyadh yesterday, John Ireland, an export promoter at UK Trade and Investment, said the UK power sector is expanding rapidly and needs more investment.
“The UK’s electricity infrastructure is now becoming very mature and further investments will be needed in the coming years,” he said, promising huge returns to investors. The seminar, sponsored by the British Embassy, was attended by key officials from Saudi Aramco, King Abdul Aziz City For Science and Technology, Saudi Telecom and the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry. A similar program will be held in Jeddah later this week.
