JEDDAH, 26 February 2004 — Seventeen-year-old Heba Al-Shawwa, in the 11th grade at Dar Jana International School, has been offered a scholarship to study math and physics by Kentucky State University.

The offer was made as a result of Heba’s high Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) scores. She was among a group of high school students who took the exam for the first time.

Dar Jana Principal Fatin El-Saadi said: “Our objective is to prepare students for university, whether locally or internationally.”

The school’s students come from a variety of backgrounds but all are enrolled in a support program, each according to her level. The aim of the program is to improve English skills since the school’s program is in English.
