RIYADH, 27 February 2004 — Saudi Minister of Commerce and Industry Dr. Hashim Yamani will inaugurate the Saudi pavilion at the Cairo International, which opens on March 16, according to Abdul-Karim Yaqoub, director at the Department of Media and Exhibition of the Council of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CSCCI).
“This highlights the importance of the trade relationship between Saudi Arabia and Egypt,” Yaqoub told Arab News on Thursday.
The delegation will be organized by the Saudi Export Development Center (SEDC) of the CSCCI under the supervision of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Twenty-five Saudi businesses will display their products and services as well as meet with their Egyptian counterparts.
Saudi imports from Egypt from 1990 to 2003 increased from SR376 million to SR502 million, but Saudi exports to Egypt between 1991 to 2001 decreased from SR3 billion to SR2.57 billion. The figure further declined to SR1.29 billion in 2002.
This means local businesses are especially keen to promote Saudi products in Egypt.
