JEDDAH, 27 February 2004 — Jeddah Cricket League (JCL) held the prize distribution function for the 15th Fuchs Petroleum League at a glittering ceremony at the La Sani Restaurant this week, which was attended, by the winners, runners up team and individual award winners, Fuchs management officials, distinguished guests, JCL executive committee members and member clubs.
The proceedings started with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an. The JCL President Shahid Amin, in his opening remarks, welcomed the chief guest of the evening Mumtaz Ahmed Jamil, Vice President (Operations), Fuchs Petroleum Saudi Arabia and other distinguished guests prominent among them being Ali Abdullah Kanoo of Kanoo Group of Companies, Ashraf Tumbi of Xenel Industries, Fayyaz Mirza of Yousuf Naghi, Iqbal Talib of EPCA and Saquib Agboatwala, president of Indian Chartered Accountants.
He thanked the Fuchs management for their continued support to JCL activities for the last 15 years and hoped that they would continue to maintain the relationship for many more years.
JCL President appreciated the tremendous support that Fuchs has given not only in sponsoring JCL leagues but also in sponsoring Inter City matches. He congratulated the winners and runners up of the Fuchs Petroleum league (Premier division) and JCL league (Division I and II).
Shahid Amin also briefed the audience that besides organizing matches for member clubs, JCL also conducted the recently concluded Under 19-Colts tournament which was sponsored by Arab News and social matches with different communities in Jeddah prominent among those being the match between Hyderabad Overseas XI and Indian Counsel General XI and another between the JCL Excom v/s. the Indian Chartered Accountants.
JCL plans to hold the match between Indian Consulate General XI and Sri Lankan Counsel General XI and triangular match series between Pakistan, Indian and Sri Lankan Consulates.
Shahid Amin highlighted the success of JCL to its loyal and committed sponsors like Fuchs, Kanoo, SGB Baroom, Sadafco etc. Mumtaz Jamil thanked the JCL committee led under the astute leadership of Shahid Amin for developing and flourishing the game of cricket in a desert country like Saudi Arabia.
It is under Shahid Amin’s leadership that JCL has successfully completed 28 years of cricket in Jeddah.
He assured JCL of Fuchs and Al Hamrani family’s full and continued support to JCL as part of its corporate policy of promoting and encouraging sports in general and cricket in particular.
He considered Fuchs to be very fortunate to be sharing the platform with JCL and appreciated JCL for the excellent arrangements not only in conducting the leagues but also in organizing such a grand function, which was attended by over 200 persons.
He congratulated the winners and runners up of the Fuchs League and JCL league and wished the other teams better luck for the future leagues. He then distributed the awards for the Fuchs and JCL league.

Fuchs League (Premier division): Winner — Mahmood Saeed, Runner up — Traco Green, Best batsman — Wajahat Hussain of Mahmood Saeed (540 runs), Best bowler — Mohammad Amjad of Mahmood Saeed (27 wickets), Best All Rounder — Mohsin Mirza of Traco (424 runs and 13 wickets).
JCL League — Division I Winner — Kanoo, Runner up — Saudia City, Best batsman — Qassim of Saudia city (464 runs), Best bowler — Zahid of Kanoo (15 wickets), Best All Rounder — Shabbir of Red Sea Paint (282 runs and 10 wickets).
JCL League — Division II Winner — Hafil, Runner up — Nestle Milo, Best batsman — Ahsan of Nestle Milo (615 runs), Best bowler — Zahid Qureshi of Nestle Milo (18 wickets), Best All Rounder — Muddasir of International Indian School, Jeddah (306 runs and 10 wickets).
After the awards were distributed, JCL president Shahid Amin presented a crystal plaque to Mumtaz Jamil.
The ceremony ended with a vote of thanks by JCL executive secretary, Mohammad Iqbal.
