JEDDAH, 27 February 2004 — IDB, SGB Baroom and Saudia Milk triumphed against Nadir Toor, Sadafco and UMA by 5 wickets, 6 wickets and 30 runs respectively in the 9th week matches of the SGB Baroom sponsored League (Premier Division) & organized by JCL.

A superb 142 runs from Rashid gave SGB Baroom a big win whereas a patient unbeaten 104 from Parvez was in vain as Sadafco ended on the losing side.

IDB bundled out Nadir Toor for a paltry 131 runs thanks to a superb spell of bowling from Khawar who ran through the youthful Nadir Toor batting slicing them like a piece of cake. He ended with stupendous figures of 6 for 28 and was well supported by Ataurahman who chipped in with 2 for 31.

Only opener Murtaza (36) and Hasnain (29) batted with a degree of confidence. In reply, IDB lost 2 early wickets but thereafter managed to reach the target of 133 for 5 in 18.5 overs with Rashid Malik scoring an unbeaten 63 runs inclusive of 7 fours and Fayaz chipped in with 24 runs. Ijaz Toor picked up 2 for 25.

Sadafco, inspired by a patient knock of 104 runs from Parvez, posted a respectable tally of 234. Parvez played a solo innings after Sadafco had lost 2 early wickets for 39. In company of Haroon (44) he steadied the innings and soon raced to his fifty.

The two put on 88 runs for the 3rd wicket before Haroon was dismissed. Although wickets tumbled at one end Parvez found an able partner in Kamran (23) with whom he accelerated the scoring and reached his well-deserved century to enable his team end the innings at 234 all out. Zahid and Manjeet picked up 2 wickets each.

In reply, SGB Baroom were given a robust start by Rashid flogging the bowlers to all parts of the ground.

Although wickets fell at regular intervals at the other end, Rashid kept one end going and reached his fifty and then his century. He remained unbeaten with a brilliant 142 as SGB Baroom romped home at 235 for 4 in 30.1 to record a 6-wicket win.

Saudia Milk, bolstered by a quick-fire 60 runs from Shakir Khan which included 6 fours and 2 towering sixes and a sedate 51 runs from Javed, managed to reach a fighting score of 273 in 35 overs.

Other notable contributors were Syed Amer (20), Anees Malik (35), and Zulfiqar (24) as Ashfaq (3 for 47) and Umer (2 for 51) bowled accurately for UMA.

In reply, UMA got a good start with openers Ashfaque (53) and Umar (28) shining with the bat also putting on 95 runs in 10 overs before both were dismissed at the same score. From 95 for no loss they collapsed to 127 for 6.

Thereafter Shaukat (64) and Wasim S. (48) managed to steady the innings and put them back on track to their chase with a 91 runs partnership for the 7th wicket.

Just when it looked that UMA would reach the target both were dismissed and the innings folded up for 243 runs to give the Milkmen a good win by 30 runs.

Shakir shone with ball following his brilliant batting taking 3 for 36 to hasten his team's win and was well supported by Syed Amer (3 for 40) and Imran (2 for 38).
