RIYADH, 28 February 2004 — A delegation from the Police Academy of the Czech Republic arrived here yesterday to discuss an exchange of security expertise between the two countries, the embassy of the Czech Republic told Arab News.
The police team, which is here at the invitation of the Riyadh-based Naif Arab University for Security Studies (NAUSS), is led by Dr. Hana Bartosova, president of the Czech Police Academy.
“The two parties will discuss the possibility of organizing special courses for students of NAUSS in the Czech Republic sending Czech security experts to organize specialized courses in the Kingdom,” said Vaclav Zilka, counselor at the Czech embassy.
Meanwhile, King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) plans to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Czech Academy of Sciences when the Academy of Science’s president Helena Illnerova visits the Kingdom in March.
There has been a steep rise in the number of visas issued by the Czech Embassy to Saudis traveling to Prague.
Many of them have gone for treatment at the many health spas outside the Czech capital.
Two-way trade is more than $38 million mark. The Czech Republic and Saudi Arabia have also signed agreements in security, education, and health care, among others.
