JEDDAH, 3 March 2004 — Dr. Aysha Al-Manie, a prominent businesswoman, has been elected chairwoman of the first women’s committee at the Eastern Province Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Al-Hayat Arabic daily reported yesterday. A meeting of 19 businesswomen also elected Wafa Al-Zaid vice chairman of the committee and Maryam Al-Rajhi secretary. Abdul Rahman Al-Rashid, chairman of the chamber, said the women’s committee would play a significant role in enlightening businesswomen about investment opportunities in the region. “The chamber will help the women’s committee in any way it can,” said Ibrahim Al-Olayan, its secretary-general.
