JEDDAH, 3 March 2004 — The first Issham National Bowling Championship will be held at the Al Mosadia Bowling alley. The event is aimed at spotting national bowling talent. Organized by Issham International Co in collaboration with the Saudi Bowling Federation, the championship will feature top teams from four provinces — Central, Eastern, Western and Asir.
Ibrahim Al Jurifani, President of Saudi Bowling Federation made this announcement at a press conference on Monday night. Members of the Saudi Bowling Federation and the Presidency of Youth Welfare too attended.
The tournament will be run under the auspices of the Saudi Bowling Federation and the Presidency of Youth Welfare and will feature competition in singles, doubles, threes, team’s and masters’ categories. The championship will start from March 6- 11.
“This championship aims to gather the best bowlers in the Kingdom and to support the sport of bowling in the Kingdom,” he said.
He noted the top four players from each province will qualify to the final round and will contest for the prizes. “We are offering winners four major prizes that are: First place (SR36,000), second place (SR24,000), Third place (SR15,000) and fourth place (SR9,000),” he said.
Meanwhile, Saeed Jama’an Al Ghamdi, managing director of Issham International Co, called on the private sector to take steps to support sports that are not as popular as football in order to boost every sports in the Kingdom.
