AISR, 5 March 2004 - Patients and visitors of Asir public hospital were forced to evacuate after a short circuit started a fire. Hospital officials evacuated the building and prevented visitors from entering until the fire was extinguished. An early investigation by the fire department blamed old equipment in the hospital and a lack of maintenance for causing the fire. More than 150 patients and visitors were evacuated. No casualties were reported.
