JEDDAH, 6 March 2004 — Visitors to Aziziya Maternity Hospital in Jeddah are complaining about the emergency section in the hospital and claim they wait for long hours with their sick children without seeing a receptionist or a doctor. The only person they see is the security officer at the door. Fawzi Hassan told Madinah newspaper, “I brought my daughter to this hospital because she suffers from asthma but there was no doctor here to check her. I had to ask the security guard to help. The security guard just gave me a number, and I had to wait in an empty room with my sick daughter. The situation is very bad and the Ministry of Health should come and look at this place”. Another angry parent at the hospital, Abdulrahman Al-Jihani, said, “I came with my young daughter who had a high fever. There was no doctor or receptionist. People waiting in the hospital helped me by putting a cold towel on her head to bring the temperature down.”
