MUSCAT, 12 March 2004 — Omantel, Oman’s only telecom service provider, on Wednesday signed a deal with Belgium’s Scanit, a leading ICT network security specialist, to offer comprehensive infrastructure and vulnerability assessment services in Oman.
“The new partnership will give a unique service of infrastructure and security solutions coupled with penetration testing and vulnerability assessment services designed to help organizations protect themselves from mounting Internet security threats,” Engineer Mohammed ibn Ali Al-Wahaibi, executive President of Omantel, told a Press conference. He added, “The alliance with Scanit underlines Omantel’s strategy of constantly enhancing its product portfolio by offering world-class ICT services to its customers.” Omantel is expected to be privatized soon.
He said that network security issues now carry increasing importance in many vital economic and business sectors. This agreement seeks to explore innovative and professional ways to remove problems in the public organizations and other enterprises.
