ALKHOBAR, 12 March 2004 — Arab News in cooperation with Asia International School is once again setting up a “cricket Pavilion” where all the five one day matches between India and Pakistan will be telecast live on a large screen. Le Gulf Meridien Hotel is also supporting the pavilion.
Last year during the World Cup, the cricket pavilion set up by Arab News and Le Gulf Meridien at the Meridien Hotel proved to be very popular and thus following the announcement of the Indo-Pak series cricket fans in the Eastern sought a similar facility.
The pavilion will be set up at the Asia International School in ETE Compound in the Green Belt Area. This compound is adjacent to the famous Oasis compound, behind the Olayan Holding Company.
The Asia International School is erecting a special tent inside the compound where a large screen as well as several TV units will be placed for the audience. Entry to the pavilion for all the five matches will be free. Syed Humayun Muzaffar, director of the school, said that his institution gave special emphasis on sports and the setting up of the cricket pavilion was a reflection of its commitment to the sports in general and cricket in particular.
During these five matches, there will also be quiz contests and winners will be given prizes offered by Asia International School, Le Gulf Meridien and JVC.
Muzaffar said that the purpose of the pavilion is to create an atmosphere similar to the one at the real grounds. He, however, urged cricket fans visiting the pavilion to be calm and enjoy the game of cricket in its true spirit.
