NEW DELHI, 13 March 2004 — The Supreme Court yesterday canceled the bail granted to Lok Janshakti Party leader and MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav in the Ajit Sarkar murder case and directed the Central Bureau of Investigation to arrest him immediately. The court said the Patna High Court was not justified in granting bail to Yadav without taking into account the fact that his bail was earlier canceled by the Supreme Court. Pappu Yadav said he would respect the court’s decision. He, however, alleged that the case against him was concocted by the Bharatiya Janata Party and the CBI. He also blamed the prime minister’s office for conspiring to get his bail quashed and said he would appeal to the Supreme Court for bail after seeking a detailed order form the high court.
