JEDDAH, 14 March 2004 — Saudi Arabia’s Zamil Steel has won a prestigious industry prize in Vietnam.
Zamil Steel Vietnam, its Asian operation, has been awarded the Golden Dragon Prize by the Vietnamese government for “contribution to the Vietnamese economy” in 2003.
Some 1,000 companies were in competition for the award. ZSV emerged as one of 30 winners from 10 categories, in the “construction and construction material” category.
“Zamil Steel Vietnam remains committed to building on our successes, and — through our own growth and expansion — to an ongoing contribution to the socio-economic development of Vietnam,” said George Kobrossy, the general director of ZSV on receiving the award from Madam Nguyen Thi Binh, a former vice president of Vietnam. The selection criteria for the prize stresses the quality of products and services, an awareness of trademarks, company turnover and growth, customer services, contribution to the local economy, care of employees, as well as participation in humanitarian and charitable work.
The Golden Dragon award was established in 2001 and is organized by Vietnam Economic Times with full support from the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Culture and Information, the Ministry of Trade, World Economic Institute and the Vietnam Economic Association.
