CAIRO, 15 March 2004 — Venezuela wants the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to implement on April 1, a decision to reduce production, its Energy Minister Rafael Ramirez said here yesterday. Ramirez also called on OPEC to review its oil price target, hinting that the $22-$28 per barrel band sought after since 2000 was low. “We have a decision to cut in April,” he told reporters, when asked whether OPEC could delay a decision to slash its official ceiling from April 1 because of high oil prices.
