MAKKAH, 16 March 2004 — The city of Makkah is to get new sidewalks and streetlights in the first step of a project by the municipality to improve the local infrastructure. A national company will complete the SR20 million project in two years. The second stage of the contract will take another 2 years and cost around SR22.5 million.
