ZAMBOANGA CITY, 17 March 2004 — One person was killed and 4 others wounded when gunmen attacked a house owned by a supporter of a candidate for mayor in Zamboanga del Sur province in the southern Philippines, the military said. The military suspected that followers of a rival candidate was behind the attack on Monday on supporters of Junam Lagas in the village of Panas in Buug town. The attackers fled after strafing the house but police forces arrested 13 of Lagas supporters.
