KARACHI, 19 March 2004 — An agreement Pakistan had with Saudi Arabia to let Pakistan buy at least 80,000 barrels of crude oil a day on deferred payment has expired and will not be extended, a Pakistani minister said yesterday. Petroleum and Natural Resources Nauraiz Shakoor Khan also said the government was considering importing diesel from India despite a current ban on such deliveries. “The Saudi facility ended in January and we are not negotiating any further extension,” Khan told reporters in Karachi.
